sunday roast at the engineer pub

Advertisements

iLPH enjoys the search for the best Sunday roast and The Engineer did not let our taste buds down. Indeed The Engineer never lets you down! Brilliantly managed, a super nice team that really knows the food and wine and a lovely outdoors with sun and heaters!

We summoned a Hugo Spritz, a Rioja and a Chaple Down Bacchus [that I had not seen before and had clarity and a knockout bouquet]. We went on to share a bottle of fizz from Chaple Down too and a Portuguese Post Scriptum vegan red. One of the best wine lists around the Hill and always memorable.

We enjoyed the excellent new starters of the beef shin croquette and courgette fritters and the attention to any allergy issues was spot on. A superb Chateaubriand and a nut roast followed with super trimmings. We took it on the chin and went for the just right desserts notable for a vegan crumble and a just right Tokaji for accompaniment.

There were family groups, couples, friends and the odd dog all enjoying the afternoon. Like us they will all want to be back; especially as we rounded off with Yorkshire’s finest, a Timothy Taylor!
