The Lacock Scholars reappeared for their Christmas concert at St Mark’s on Monday evening (the 22nd). A renowned choral troupe of scholars their concerts always enlighten and entertain. This was a celebration of two of the leading lights of Renaissance music whose influence is still felt in cathedral music today.
The performance began with a singing and walking emergence from the vestry and up onto the stage. One of the features of the scholars is their movement around their environment; music and choreography!
The compositions are always thoughtful and here reflected the aspect of penitence within advent; though cleverly interspersing and finishing with the more celebratory aspect of the season. A Christmas Special indeed!
