HS2: THE COST TO CAMDEN.

HS2: THE COST TO CAMDEN

The proposed building of HS2, the high-speed rail link from Euston to Birmingham, has caused confusion and worry, no more so than in Camden Town and Primrose Hill.

The Pan-Camden HS2 Alliance is hoping to bring us some clarity, however. On Thursday 23 January, at 8.15pm, they are holding a public meeting at Cecil Sharp House, NW1; all are welcome to hear speakers including our local MP, Frank Dobson, the journalist Andrew Gilligan, Camden Council’s Sarah Hayward, and Stanley Johnson, long-time resident, writer, ex-MEP and father of Boris.

Martin Sheppard of the Gloucester Avenue Association and the Pan-Camden HS2 Alliance is emphatic, telling me that ‘HS2 is a catastrophe for Camden, inflicting long-term, gratuitous damage on us all. We need to get together to prevent it.’

No doubt we are in for a lively, fascinating and productive evening.
