iLPH went to visit the In Between exhibition at the Regent’s Park Gallery. Attending the exhibition gave iLPH the opportunity to step into the world of Mila Solari. It was mesmerising seeing how her paintings were presented in a colourful abstract way.
OYIN BY MILA SOLARI, 2025

This painting is called Oyin because Mila was listening to Niniola singing her Oyin song whilst painting this art. Oyin was made in Mila’s first studio in Hampstead which was a former prison. It is an intuitional abstract. The painting colourfully stands out through Mila’s Gansai watercolours, crayons and acrylics used to paint the abstract. This painting colourfully stood out towards me because of how its colours portray a sense of happiness through its colourful brightness. Oyin has a colourfully bright rainbow like presentation through how all of its colours are mixed in together.
MOYO BY MILA SOLARI, 2025

Moyo has the same principle as Oyin from Niniola’s album. Because Mila was painting Moyo whilst listening to Niniola’s song Moyo. Moyo is different from Oyin because it has darker pink and turquoise colours. This creates a darker coloured composition. In analysis, Moyo is different from Oyin because it has a darker water colouring aspect. In comparison, the viewer could look at Oyin to get a lighter experience. Whereas, the viewer could look at Moyo to get a darker viewing experience.
INTO THE SUN BY MILA SOLARI, 2025

The inspiration from Into The Sun comes from Paul Klee who’s a German Swiss painter. Mila painted this on a nice sunny day when she was sitting in the sun. She thought if he had to paint staring into the sun how would he do it? This abstract was inspired by Paul’s art and Mila’s. It’s based on how Paul Klee views composition. Into The Sun relates to the colour and emotion themes of the exhibition based on how the sun would appear as a painting whilst staring into it. In analysis, this creates a figurative sense of inspiration to the viewer because it’s based on something that’s hard to draw.
