Everyone loves a pub quiz, even more so when it involves two local icons: the Lansdowne Pub and London Zoo. The quiz night was hosted by the Lansdowne in its newly-restored function room, organised by Simon Kenworthy, a PhD student working at London Zoo. And somehow or another, Simon managed to make all the questions animal themed…
The quiz team that I was on called itself the Primrose Hill Settlers (pictured above). We had all come to live in Primrose Hill at some point in our lives. It wasn’t the first place that any of us had ever lived. Various employees of ZSL were also at the quiz, and they were very knowledgable about the theme of animals.
The animal questions featured music, films, pictures and sport. The quiz ended with a tie breaker question between two teams, such a rare event that Simon had never used a tie breaker question before for any of his quizzes. Which was, how far into the Lion King movie does Mufasa die? The answer? We couldn’t possibly say…
The next pub quiz held at the Lansdowne Pub will be on Wednesday 22nd July 2026. It will start at 7pm and finish at 10pm. The tickets will be free.
