iLPH enjoys The Landsdowne’s Victorian feel, Uber friendly staff, the roaring fire in the winter and the Sun drenched benches in the summer. A pub that attracts all ages and family sizes. And greets every dog as though it is Lassie!

We put The Lansdowne through its paces in the Sunday roast competition and were not disappointed. We had a feast, served at a perfect pace and enjoyed a great chinwag with the Primrose Hill historian and his two adorable dogs. Though the dogs are shown with wine glasses rest assured they stayed safe to drive and focused on the lovely water bowls provided (what a lovely touch after we had mentioned it on the booking).

We treated ourselves to padron peppers and a soup to start and the colours set us off on a roast delight. We took the vegan option (allergy considerations well dealt with) the beef and the belly of pork. The accoutrements were also delightful comprising cauliflower cheese, swede mash, a rare sighting of “pigs in blankets” and I took an extra Yorkshire. That all worked so well with the roasties just right and the horseradish working nicely.

A nicely priced wine list of many options by the glass added to our afternoon. We tasted a white from the Castro Martin Albarino for the first time and it rocked (we will track that family estate down); the beef eaters took Zensa Primitivo because it was unusual as a “bio” and definitely earned a second tasting; and as we continue the search for the best drink in the sun we had the small butterfly rose that was great value!

We started early as the doors opened and there was a steady inflow of people. We almost wished it had got colder so we could have enjoyed one of the best fire places in Primrose Hill! A good time was nevertheless had by all!
